GXSC Ferroelectric Memory Replaces MB85RS128/FM25V01 in Thermostats

Time:2026-07-08 Views:310
Temperature regulators (thermostats) are critical components on manufacturing production lines for semiconductors, electrical equipment, molding machines, and other applications, as they improve product yield, reliability, and production efficiency through precise temperature control. By comparing the current temperature measured by a sensor with the target temperature and making adjustments based on the deviation, temperature controllers are indispensable devices in temperature control processes for molding machines and similar equipment. In the event of a equipment failure, real-time recording of temperature changes—such as inside the furnace—is necessary to ensure proper handling of the equipment upon recovery.

Traditional temperature controllers often experience failures due to the insufficient performance of EEPROMs. In terms of rewrite endurance, both ferroelectric memory and SRAM can meet the requirements; however, the advantage of ferroelectric memory lies in its ability to provide backup without a battery even if the system loses power due to a failure. For this reason, ferroelectric memory was ultimately selected.

In equipment such as molding machines, various control functions are performed by precisely adjusting temperature changes after raw materials are loaded. This temperature data must be recorded in memory as log data in millisecond intervals, requiring non-volatile memory that not only supports high-speed writing but also offers high rewrite endurance. The new GXSC ferroelectric memory currently guarantees a write endurance of up to 1 million cycles.

The GXSC ferroelectric memory uses a standard SPI interface and is fully compatible with the MB85RS128/FM25V01. Since no major modifications to the hardware circuitry are required during chip replacement, this reduces development costs for the solution. With an operating frequency of up to 25 MHz and support for high-speed 40 MHz read commands, its performance metrics—including read/write speeds and endurance—fully meet the operating conditions of temperature controllers.

By adopting GXSC ferroelectric memory, the product’s reliability—including accuracy and service life—is enhanced. At the same time, the peripheral circuitry required for batteries or capacitors is reduced, resulting in a simpler circuit design that helps lower development costs for customers.
