GXSC FRAM Replaces MB85RS128/FM25V01 in Rotary Encoder Applications

Time:2026-07-15 Views:263
In the fields of industrial automation and servo motion control, rotary encoders are used to capture data such as angular displacement, rotational speed increments, and motion direction, providing position feedback signals to PLCs, motion controllers, and servo systems.
As demands for real-time position storage, data retention during power loss, and high-frequency data read/write operations continue to rise, traditional EEPROM and Flash memory can no longer meet the requirements for real-time, high-frequency storage or provide adequate data retention during power loss. This article recommends the use of GXSC FRAM, which can satisfy the needs of rotary encoders for high-frequency real-time read/write operations, ultra-long erase/write endurance, instantaneous data retention during power loss, and low-power standby mode.
GXSC FRAM overcomes the physical performance limitations of traditional Flash/EEPROM, supporting up to 1 million read/write operations. It operates at frequencies up to 25 MHz and supports high-speed 40 MHz read commands. Combining the high-speed read/write capabilities of RAM with the non-volatile retention of ROM, it enables high-frequency refreshes of encoder position data, supporting long-term, high-speed continuous motion of equipment and millisecond-level position updates.
Key Specifications of GXSC FRAM:
• Capacity: 128Kb
• Interface Type: SPI (Mode 0 and Mode 3)
• Operating Voltage: 2.7V to 3.6V
• Operating Frequency: 25MHz
• Power Consumption: 4.2mA, 9uA (standby)
• Data Retention: 10 years @ 85°C (200 years @ 25°C)
• High-Speed Read Capability: Supports 40 MHz high-speed read commands
• Operating Temperature Range: -40°C to 85°C
• Package: 8-pin SOP package, RoHS-compliant
• Replaces Fujitsu MB85RS128 and Cypress FM25V01
The SF25C128 ferroelectric memory consumes significantly less power during writing than other memory devices. Even when the factory loses power and cannot access the power supply, it can still record the motor’s revolutions, enabling the creation of a highly reliable system that is resistant to both power outages and shocks.
