Signal generators are primarily used to generate signals with specific frequencies, waveforms, and power levels. They support modulation types such as analog and vector modulation, covering frequencies ranging from low frequencies to the microwave band. Signal generators employ an architecture combining digital programmable configuration, high-precision DAC conversion, and low-noise signal conditioning. High-precision digital-to-analog converters (DACs) perform accurate conversion from discrete digital values to continuous analog voltage signals, requiring 16-bit or higher resolution DACs to reduce quantization error and support the output of minute signals.
GXSC’s 16-bit unbuffered voltage-output digital-to-analog converter (DAC) is specifically designed for precision instruments and programmable precision signal output applications. It operates on a single power supply ranging from 2.7 V to 5.5 V and guarantees monotonicity of the output voltage across the entire temperature range. The bufferless design enables the DAC to feature extremely low power consumption, with a quiescent current of only 290 μA and a low zero-code offset error of 0.5 LSB. It supports a reference voltage input range from 2 V to VDD. The voltage output swing ranges from 0 V to VREF.

The GXSC DAC integrates a precisely matched resistor network; when used in conjunction with an external precision operational amplifier, it can generate a bipolar voltage output with a maximum swing of ±VREF on the RFB pin. The chip features an SPI/QSPI/MICROWIRE-compatible three-wire serial interface, capable of operating at clock rates up to 50 MHz, and can be directly connected to an optocoupler to meet the requirements of specific applications.
