Replace ADS1278 with GX1278 24-Bit Eight-Channel 256 KSPS ADC for Acoustic Measurement

Time:2026-10-12 Views:52
Acoustic measurement is one of the important technologies in environmental monitoring, product quality inspection, and architectural acoustics. Modern acoustic measurement systems have shifted from single-channel sound pressure level measurement to multi-channel array acquisition. Since acoustic signals themselves have a large dynamic range (covering sound pressure levels from 20 dB to 140 dB) and a wide frequency range, the analog-to-digital converter chips used must have high resolution and a high signal-to-noise ratio. In addition, their algorithms require strictly synchronized sampling among channels, with inter-channel phase errors controlled within an extremely small range.
The Delta-Sigma architecture 24-bit ADC GX1278 can replace the ADS1278 in acoustic measurement systems. Its data output rate can support up to 256 kSPS. The chip internally includes functional modules such as a Delta-Sigma modulator, digital filter, serial data output, clock, logic control, and IO ports, making it very suitable for multi-channel acoustic measurement scenarios.

The GX1278 not only achieves precise DC measurement characteristics, but its AC-related performance is also at a relatively high level. The chip provides a total of five modes for users to choose from: ultra-high-speed, high-speed, high-precision, low-power, and low-speed. The corresponding operating mode can be entered through hardware configuration of the relevant pins. The on-chip integrated digital filter is responsible for converting the oversampled signal output by the analog-side Delta-Sigma modulator into a low-noise digital signal.
GX1278 Product Features:
Product dimensions and pin functions are compatible with the reference model, supporting Pin-to-Pin replacement of the ADS1278
Higher sampling rate, supporting up to 256 KSPS
Low power consumption, no heat sink required
Low sampling aperture error
Data can be read out through a serial interface, supporting both SPI and Frame-Sync interface protocols.
Supports cascaded data output from multiple chips and external synchronization, making it convenient for applications requiring more than 8 ADC channels
Uses a 64-pin LQFP package, with a supported operating temperature range of -55°C to +125°C
