Replacing ADS1115: GX1115 4-Channel 16-Bit 860SPS Analog-to-Digital Converter for Temperature Measurement Systems

Time:2026-10-23 Views:9
Temperature is one of the most frequently measured physical quantities in industrial control, medical equipment, environmental monitoring, and energy systems. Sensor technology itself is already quite mature: NTC thermistors are low-cost and highly sensitive, while thermocouples cover an extremely wide temperature range. However, sensor output signals have small amplitude and are susceptible to noise interference, and different sensors differ significantly in impedance characteristics and signal range, placing multiple demands on analog-to-digital converters for resolution, gain flexibility, and low power consumption.
The GX1115 4-channel 16-bit 860SPS analog-to-digital converter is a device designed for such sensor measurement scenarios. Its performance benchmarks against the ADS1115 and it can be directly mounted on the board as a replacement. This domestically produced analog-to-digital converter integrates a programmable gain amplifier (PGA), a digital comparator, a low-drift voltage reference, and an oscillator. These features, together with a wide supply voltage range of 2.8V to 5.5V, make it very suitable for power- and space-constrained sensor measurement applications.

The data conversion rate of GX1115 can reach up to 860SPS, and the PGA can provide input ranges from ±256mV to ±6.144V, thereby enabling accurate measurement of both large and small signals. In addition, the device has an input multiplexer (MUX) that enables two differential input or four single-ended input measurements. A digital comparator used in the chip enables undervoltage and overvoltage detection. The features of GX1115 are as follows:
TSSOP package: 3mm×3mm, replacement for ADS1115
Wide supply voltage range: 2.8V to 5.5V
Low current consumption: 236μA (continuous conversion mode)
Programmable data rate: 8SPS to 860SPS
Single-cycle settling
Internal low-drift voltage reference
Internal oscillator
I2C interface: four pin-selectable addresses
4 single-ended inputs or 2 differential inputs
Programmable comparator
Operating temperature range: -40°C to 125°C
