FRAM GX25C20 Replaces MB85RS2M/FM25V20 in Energy Systems

Time:2026-10-23 Views:9
In energy application scenarios such as power metering, distribution monitoring, and power generation control, there is a type of data storage demand that has long existed but is often underestimated: the data volume is not large, but writes are frequent, timing is critical, and saving must be completed at the instant of power loss. Smart meters need to record the last electricity reading before a power outage, power monitors need to freeze instantaneous voltage and current values on the hour, and generator excitation systems need to latch switch quantities and analog quantities within a millisecond-level window when a fault occurs. The requirements these scenarios place on memory have gone beyond the comfort zone of traditional EEPROM and Flash.
GX25C20 uses ferroelectric process and silicon-gate CMOS process technology. Its write process does not require waiting for an erase cycle, and it is simultaneously superior to traditional non-volatile storage technologies in three dimensions: write speed, endurance, and power consumption. With a 2Mbit capacity, SPI interface, and industrial-grade temperature range, GX25C20 is gaining increasing attention in the energy electronics field.
The memory cells used in GX25C20 can support 1E11 read/write operations, its operating frequency can reach 25MHz, and it supports a 40MHz high-speed read command. GX25C20 also has excellent data retention capability, maintaining reliable data retention for 10 years @85°C (200 years @25°C) within the industrial-grade temperature range. No additional battery backup is required, greatly simplifying the hardware design of servo drives and reducing design cost and failure rate. Its main parameters are introduced as follows:
• Capacity: 2M
• Interface type: SPI interface (Mode 0 and Mode 3)
• Operating voltage: 2.7V to 3.6V
• Operating frequency: 25MHz
• Power consumption: 4.5mA, 1uA (standby)
• Data retention: 10 years @85°C (200 years @25°C)
• High-speed read feature: supports 40MHz high-speed read command
• Operating ambient temperature range: -40°C to 85°C
• Package forms: SOP8 150mil package, SOP8 208mil package, RoHS compliant
• PIN TO PIN replacement for MB85RS2M/FM25V20
GX25C20 is compatible in pins and functions with Fujitsu MB85RS2MT and Cypress FM25V20A, and is feasible for in-place replacement, which has practical significance against the backdrop of increasingly prominent supply chain localization needs.
